Comprehensive introduction to chart work, navigation, meteorology, and the fundamentals of good seamanship.
The RYA Day Skipper theoretical course provides beginner skippers with a comprehensive introduction to navigation, meteorology, sailing regulations, safety, and many other key areas. The course syllabus is designed to equip you with the necessary knowledge and confidence to plan and execute your dream voyages.
Learning to responsibly command a boat and lead a crew is no easy task—the practical Day Skipper course is considered one of the most challenging courses in the entire RYA framework. A new skipper must simultaneously manage multiple responsibilities while also anticipating the next steps of the journey. By dedicating sufficient time to theoretical preparation, you will gain valuable extra time during the practical course to practice key maneuvers. Courses are taught in English by Slovak or Czech instructors.
Graduates receive the RYA Day Skipper Theory certificate. Participants already enrolled in our practical course are eligible for a 10% discount on this online course.
This course is offered in partnership with Sailing Courses Online. By enrolling, you agree to their terms and conditions, which can be found here: https://www.sailingcourseonline.co.uk/terms-conditions
Book the RYA Day Skipper practical course together with the theory and the theory course is 10 % cheaper. It is not only about the price: you then spend the week on manoeuvres and boat handling instead of catching up on navigation below deck. The theory course itself is not a requirement for the certificate – the knowledge is, wherever you got it.
You study at your own pace, any time and anywhere. The course is about 40 hours of study.
Yes, practical course participants get 10 % off the theory.
The theory courses have no exam. Theory knowledge is, however, a condition for the certificate on the practical course, so it pays to have it before you step on board.
Tell us which courses you want to combine and we will apply the discount when you book. The order does not matter, but we recommend taking the theory before the practical course – that is the whole point of the discount.
